Běžné pojížďky se dají zvládnout čistě na elektřinu

Obě plug-in hybridní verze BMW řady 5 Sedan nyní používají novou technologii bateriových článků pro elektrifikované modely BMW Group. Lithium-iontová vysokonapěťová baterie pro BMW 530e Sedan a BMW 530e xDrive Sedan má kapacitu zvýšenou z 9,2 na 12,0 kWh, aniž by došlo k jejímu zvětšení. Díky tomu lze většinu denního nájezdu ujet čistě na elektrický proud, čímž lokální emise klesnou na nulu.

Akumulátor je z důvodu úspory místa uložen pod zadními sedadly, takže ve srovnání s konvenčně poháněnými verzemi BMW řady 5 Sedan se objem zavazadlového prostoru zmenšil pouze minimálně a činí 410 litrů.

Baterii lze nabíjet z běžných domácích elektrických zásuvek pomocí nabíjecího kabelu, který je součástí standardní výbavy. Tímto způsobem trvá procedura šest hodin. S nabíječkou BMW i Wallbox se potřebná doba zkracuje na tři hodiny a 35 minut.

Plug-in hybridní systém obou modelů tvoří čtyřválcový zážehový dvoulitrový motor BMW TwinPower Turbo, generující výkon 135 kW/184 k, a také elektromotor poskytující 83 kW/113 k a integrovaný do osmistupňové samočinné převodovky Steptronic. Společně vykazují celkový výkon 185 kW/252 k spolu s maximálním točivým momentem 420 Nm. BMW 530e Sedan zrychluje z 0 na 100 km/h za 6,1 sekundy, BMW 530e xDrive Sedan za 6,2 sekundy. Maximální rychlost v obou případech dosahuje 235 km/h. 

Řidič může volbu režimu jízdy ovlivnit stiskem tlačítka eDrive. Ve standardním nastavení Auto eDrive je čistě elektrická jízda realizovatelná až do rychlosti 110 km/h. Po přepnutí do módu Max eDrive mohou vozy jet až 140 km/h. Již do základu je zahrnuta funkce akustického varování chodců.

Elektrický dojezd BMW 530e Sedan dosahuje 61 až 66 kilometrů, BMW 530e xDrive Sedan 55 až 58 kilometrů. Kombinovaná spotřeba paliva je uváděna v rozmezí 1,6 až 1,8 litru na 100 kilometrů (u 530e xDrive Sedan 2,0–2,2 l/100 km), emise CO2 od 36 do 41 g/km (46–49 g/km) a spotřeba elektrické energie od 13,6 do 14,5 kWh na 100 kilometrů (15,0–15,4 kWh/100 km).

Vozidla jsou opatřena nezávislou klimatizací. Interiér se dá vychladit na dálku prostřednictvím chytrého telefonu a aplikace BMW Connected. Spektrum volitelné výbavy sahá od adaptivního podvozku a kol z lehké slitiny o průměru 17 až 20 palců až po paket BMW Individual a asistenční systémy Driving Assistant Plus a Parking Assistant Plus. Připlatit si je také možné za BMW Live Cockpit ConnectedDrive s plně digitálním konceptem zobrazování.
