Nová generace sportovního vozu se představila zatím v maskování

Chevrolet Corvette C8 byl v posledních měsících častějším objektem špionážních fotografů než princezna Diana, zejména během únorového testování v horách kolem San Diega.

Chevrolet Corvette C08

GM plánuje nové auto oficiálně představit 18. července. Už nyní ale byly zveřejněny fotografie maskovaného vozu, který ukazuje první Corvette s motorem před zadní nápravou.

Maskovanou Chevrolet Corvette C8 řídil hlavní inženýr Tadge Juechter a s ním jela generální ředitelka GM Mary Barraová. V New Yorku se pohybovali po 7. Avenue poblíž Times Square, kam měli namířeno na výroční galavečer nadace Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers.

Chevrolet Corvette C08

Chevrolet zatím tají technické informace. Základní verze nicméně bude mít motor V8 6,2 l s výkonem přibližně 373 kW (500 k). Následovat budou verze s výkony mezi 671 kW (900 k) a 746 kW (1000 k) u vrcholného provedení Corvette Zora s hybridním pohonem s motorem V8 twin-turbo, kombinovaným s elektromotorem.

Chevrolet Corvette C08

Poslední verze, známá jako C7, tedy sedmé generace, je impozantním automobilem respektovaným po celém světě. Očekávaná Vette C8 bude první, která se chce postavit vozům značek Ferrari, McLaren nebo Lamborghini. V porovnání s nimi bude podstatně levnější - s předpokládanou cenou začínající na 62 000 dolarů (1,4 milionu Kč), tedy jen o 5000 dolarů vyšší než u stávající C7 Stingray. Zora ale bude cenově na úrovni dvojnásobku této částky.
