Škoda Octavia skončila pátá

Letošní ročník ankety evropského Auta roku byl stejně tak jako spoustu jiných událostí ovlivněn pandemií koronaviru. Vyhlášení ankety se nekonalo v rámci ženevského autosalonu, který letos neprobíhá, ale online. Také kvůli omezení cestování nebylo možné uspořádat novinářské testování nominovaných automobilů v Dánsku a Francii, místo toho každý z porotců testoval nominovaná auta individuálně a poté poslal své hodnocení elektronicky.

Toyota Yaris

 

Do sedmičky finalistů postoupily vozy Citroën C4, Cupra Formentor, Fiat 500e, Land Rover Defender, Škoda Octavia a Volkswagen ID.3 a Toyota Yaris, která se nakonec může pyšnit titulem Auto roku 2021.

Yaris svým vítězstvím navazuje na lednový úspěch, kdy se stal také nejprodávanějším vozem Evropy.
 
Současná čtvrtá generace je sice japonským autem, ale vyrábí se ve Francii a především v Kolíně v České republice.

Toyota v anketě bodovala celkem třikrát, první generace Yarisu získala titul v roce 2000, o pět let později se evropským Autem roku stal Prius.

„Je pro nás velkým oceněním, že model Toyota Yaris vyhrál tuto prestižní anketu již podruhé a navazuje tak na úspěch první generace. A že vítězství přichází zrovna v roce, kdy produkce Yarisu začne i v České republice a to včetně jeho hybridní varianty,“ uvádí k vítězství Martin Peleška, ředitel českého zastoupení Toyoty.

Každoroční evropská anketa Auto roku je pořádána už od roku 1964, o vítězi rozhoduje odborná porota složená z 59 novinářů z 22 evropských zemí. Každý má 25 bodů, které musí rozdělit mezi finálovou sedmičku aut. Toyota Yaris od porotců obdržela 266 bodů.
