Nalezen ve stodole po 39 letech

Vůz byl použit v posledním filmu, ve kterém se Steve objevil. Jako lovec zločinců, kterému se přezdívalo Taťka, se ve snímku Lovec proháněl v Pontiacu Trans-Am a honil kriminálníky, kteří porušili podmínky kauce. Kaskadérský tým však dva vozy zničil.

I když si tohoto herce většina lidí spojuje s Fordem Mustang z filmu Bullitův případ, případně se starými motorkami z Velkého útěku, Pontiac je pro něj i zde nezdolný parťák. Pro film bylo použito celkem šest nových vozů.

Produkce se během filmu neobešla bez pozornosti diváků. Jeden z nich, farmář Harold McQueen (mezi ním a hercem není žádná spojitost), se nabídl, že bude dělat štábu dobrovolníka. Na natáčení byl k ruce, když bylo potřeba odtáhnout zničený kaskadérský vůz, protože měl k dispozici odtahovku.

Jako poděkování za jeho úsilí přepsali na něj filmaři první ze zničených kaskaderských pontiaců. Harold měl však ještě jedno přání. Druhý zničený vůz chtěl odvézt k prodejci Peter Levin Pontiac´s. Ten jej však nechal namísto opravy sešrotovat. Problém byl nakonec i s prvním vozem. Původně byl napsaný na samotnou automobilku, která jej však neodhlásila a požadovala vůz nazpět. Bála se totiž toho, že by s ním Harold jezdil. A přesně to měl také v plánu.

Nakonec byl Trans-Am zastrčen do farmářovy stodoly. Postupem času se mu snažil dát péči a zrenovovat jej, bohužel se potýkal s dalšími problémy a tak oprava nebyla dokončena. Dnes, o čtyřicet let později, je vůz stále ve stejné stodole v rozdělaném stavu.

Na začátku letošního roku si ostatky vozu vyžádal jistý Stan Harwell, rodinný přítel Haroldovy dcery. Auto prozkoumal a podle dokumentace jde opravdu o filmový vůz. Dokonce jsou v něm ještě kaskadérské úpravy, udělané filmovými techniky. Stan se poté spojil s vášnivým milovníkem těchto vozů Calvinem Riggsem a společně se pustí do renovace.
