Transporter z roku 1950 je pořád v kondici

Volkswagen spustil sériovou produkci modelu Transporter 8. března 1950. Jedním z prvních zhotovených kusů se stal modrý skříňový vůz s číslem podvozku 20-1880, který zamířil do Hildesheimu. V úzkých uličkách německého města spolehlivě sloužil plných 23 let.

V letech 1973 až 1992 byl tento „Bulli“ součástí sbírek fanoušků VW. Poslední majitel se jej pokusil prodat na inzerát. Zájem byl zpočátku nulový, až po několikerém zveřejnění nabídky se ozval Dán Tonny L. Koupil jej nakonec bez prohlídky poté, co se telefonicky dozvěděl, že auto má mezi sběrateli dosud nejnižší známé výrobní číslo šasi. 

Legendární dodávka stále vypadá jako nová

Tonny jej pojmenoval Sofie a rozhodl se ho po dlouhé odstávce zase zprovoznit. Začátkem roku 2000 zahájil nákladnou a časově náročnou kompletní renovaci. Premiérovou zkušební jízdu podnikl na jaře 2003 na sraz v Bad Cambergu. Potom společně absolvovali více než 20 000 kilometrů napříč Evropou.

Další zvrat v osudech veterána nastal v roce 2014, kdy závod Volkswagenu v Hannoveru navštívil dánský korunní princ. V jeho doprovodu se nacházel zástupce importéra, který se zmínil, že ví o jednom provozuschopném Transporteru z roku 1950. Záhy se na Tonyho obrátilo oddělení historických vozidel značky Volkswagen Užitkové vozy. Za pár měsíců se Sofie stěhovala do firemního muzea.

Při příležitosti svých sedmdesátin se nyní vydala na místa, spjatá s jejím dosavadním „životem“. Zastavila se ve Wolfsburgu, Hannoveru i Hildesheimu. Všude budila obrovskou pozornost.
